Frequently Asked Questions
HOW ARE YOU FUNDED?
We are 100% donation funded. We are working towards being grant funded, but as we are a small organization this can be challenging. We have operated since the beginning off of donations from our community and individuals who believe in our cause.
There are many ways to donate to our program. Please visit the Donate section of our website for a list of ways to donate and items we accept for use in our program.
HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER?
We love volunteers! Our volunteer opportunities are restricted by our strict confidentiality policies however, we do have several ways in which volunteers can help:
Organize volunteer days: Get your family, business, club, or other organization together for a farm clean-up day, barn cleaning day, or supply drive. These can be one-time events or regularly scheduled based on your capacity. These days help us manage what would be an otherwise unachievable goal of keeping our property, horses, and facilities in good working order.
Organize a fundraiser: If you or your organization would like to create your own fundraiser for us, we would love to help you get materials, information, and logo. We have had volunteer create everything from T-Shirt Drives, GoFundMe pages, and “Portion of Proceeds” events to full blown, on property events. We encourage our volunteers to get creative. If this is something that could be of interest to you, please let us know so that we can run it by our board and ensure you have all of the proper marketing materials and information.
Event Assistance: Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date on any events we may be planning. When these happen, we need lots of hands to help prepare our facility, market the event, and ensure that it runs smoothly.
DOES CHECKPOINT ONE TAKE ON INTERNS OR HAVE INTERNSHIPS?
Bachelors Level: While we have had internship opportunities for bachelor’s level students in the past, due to our increase in confidential sessions and other demands on our time, we are no longer accepting bachelor’s level internships.
Masters Level: We do have the space for one master’s level Counseling Intern per semester. Our clinician on staff is an LPC and therefore we can only provide supervision for students pursuing a degree in Counseling Psychology. If you are an MSW student and can find your own off-site supervisor for an internship, then please reach out to us to discuss this possibility.
I'M A MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL,
HOW CAN I HELP?
We are often asked by mental health professionals if there is a way that they can donate their services to our organization. What we have found most effective is to have Licensed Mental Health Professionals (Or Residents under Supervision) donate their time to a specific caseload. For some this may be offering their services through us at their own location, offering their services through us via Telehealth, or donating their time to come to our facility for a specific client or clients. If this is something you would be interested in doing, please reach out to our Mental Health Director, Mary Margaret Signorelli at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss details.
MY ORGANIZATION/BUSINESS WOULD LIKE TO PARTNER OR COLLABORATE WITH CHECKPOINT ONE, IS THIS AVAILABLE?
While we love collaborations, we do not have the capacity at this time to collaborate outside of our population, with any new programs. If you are interested in participating in a workshop with us or would like to have us create a workshop for your organization or group, please visit the Workshop Information section of our website.
